Description

Eggs of Rothschildia cincta cincta from captive females mated to wild males direct from habitat in Arizona. No inbreeding. 

Hostplants: sumac (Rhus), Liquidambar, cherry (Prunus), tree of heaven (Ailanthus)pepper tree or Brazilian pepper tree (Schinus), coyote willow (Salix exigua), Pistacia, Chinese tallow tree Triadaca (Sapium sebiferum), castor bean (Ricinus), privet (Ligustrum), etc.

Medium-large, easygoing caterpillars that are easy to rear on proper hostplants. Can tolerate conditions from warm with low humidity to miserably wet and hot. Indoors, mist caterpillars with plain water at least 1X/day so they can drink. If kept clean with fresh food and good ventilation they can tolerate moderate crowding. Young larvae are semi-gregarious.
