Ad type
FOR SALE
Description
EGGS of HEMILEUCA ELECTRA CLIO direct from habitat in Arizona. Captive females paired to wild males. Non-inbred, F0 stock. The variable, central Arizona subspecies of this beautiful desert moth. Eggs will overwinter and hatch when warmed and exposed to longer days. The larvae pupate in a weak cocoon that spends the summer on the soil surface among debris. The moths emerge during late September and October.
HOSTPLANTS: Only wild buckwheat, Eriogonum, in nature. Perhaps other plants in the Polygonaceae, but these are untested, so far as I know.
